Giles Newton, I was born in about 1734 in Henrico County, Virginia. He married Elizabeth Terrell, daughter of James Terrell and Mary Watkins, in about 1759. They had six children. William Pasley Rippy (1805-1896), a son of James Rippy and Sarah Dunn, was born in North Carolina. He married Mary Weatherly (1820-1886) in 1837. They lived in Missouri, then moved to Texas, and had nine children. Most descendants live in Texas.
Pierre Francois Rassat was born in 1793 in Giez, Haute Savoie, France. His parents were Philibert Rassat (1752-1803) and Georgine Metral (b.1753). He married Jeanne Claude Henri. They had seven children. The family began emigrating in 1846. They settled in Lewis County, New York. Descendants and relatives lived in New York, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota and elsewhere.
