This book is the fifth in the Mick Walker Racing Motorcycle series. It covers the Grand Prix Motorcycles from Japan.
While the history of European ompetition motorcycles has been largely dominated by Italian, British, and German marques, other builders around the continent have also played significant roles from the turn of the century to present. Arranged by nation, this book examines more than two dozen important marques, including Bultaco, CZ, Elf, Husqvarna, KTM, Ossa, Peugeot, and many others. A wealth of rare photography, including a special color section, includes candid shots of the top personalities and the bikes both at rest and at speed.
MZ's reputation has been built-up upon "value for money" for the road rider and success in motorcycle sport; notably road racing and long distance trials. The magic of MZ was largely due to the involvement of Dip. Ing. Walter Kaaden, who sadly passed away on 3rd March 1996, aged 76 years. To Kaaden must go the title of the world's greatest ever 2-stroke engineer. Of course, before MZ came DKW, an equally famous name, and really this book is the story of both these two great marques from Zschopau in Southern Saxony. The book also covers Simson and the new era with the Skorpion.
