Every story has a beginning, a journey, and an end. Author Vera Leinvebers’s story begins in her beloved homeland of Latvia, just prior to the outbreak of World War II. Her early childhood is filled with joy and music, but this idyllic, carefree existence is irrevocably silenced by the advancing drumbeats of war. The journey that follows proves so intense and harrowing that in order to fi nd the emotional separation necessary to face her traumatic childhood memories, Leinvebers fi lters her experiences through the eyes of a young Latvian girl called Lara. No Time to Cry tells the story of Lara’s harrowing ordeal in war-ravaged Europe. It is a story about brutality, hatred, and unimaginable loss, but it is also a lasting testament to one little girl’s indomitable will to survive. When she loses nearly everything she holds dear, Lara desperately clings to the all that remains—the music indelibly etched in her memory and a small, smooth stone that she retrieved from the charred remains of her former home. That small stone became her symbol of strength. If it could survive the inferno and devastation, so could she. Join Lara as a traveller on the path of her war-ravaged childhood, a path that clearly proves that no matter how much one might suffer, when the goal is to survive there is simply no time to cry.
The book covers my life growing up as a child in a poor neighborhood helping my single parent mom raise six sisters and brothers. I never lost sight of the challenges facing my family and doing whatever was necessary to help. Working after school was mandatory for our existence. I later went on to earn a BS in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee State University and and a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering from the University Of Toledo. I handled the opportunities as they presented them selves. The Corvette was suffering from poor quality and low customer satisfaction when I arrived and at my retirement we had achieved the highest quality and customer satisfaction ever experienced. August 29, 2013, I am being inducted into the Corvette Hall Of Fame of the National Corvette Museum.
Isabelle has life right where she wants it after recovering from heartbreak and deceit—she has the perfect apartment, amazing friends, a flourishing career, and financial security... ...Until she meets Death's right-hand man one fateful night, and events take place which alter that life, sending her spiraling into one which is beyond her wildest imaginings. And she is no longer Isabelle. She’s thrust quickly into the most secretive inner-workings of Death itself, as well as an otherworldly dominion of ancient Celtic magic, and beings that we were taught as children were only fictional creations of wildly whimsical minds. She yearns for the now unmistakable simplicity of her old life; this one is full of dangers, unanswered questions and cryptic dreams. And whispers, haunting whispers in her mind that send shivers through her…but in the most agreeable way. After one particularly anomalous dream in which she learns of the Nine While Nine Legacy, things get truly precarious. Now someone sees her as a risk …and wants to eliminate her. But she falls under the protection of her guardian—unless she leaves his territory—which is the one thing wants the most…and wants the least. What if everything you believed to be true, you discovered to be false? What if everything you believed to be false, you discovered to truly be....?
