Why Are KTKD Kids Respectful? KTKD kids learn that Taekwondo is a defensive martial art in which we use our Taekwondo skills to protect ourselves and other people we love. The very first Taekwondo techniques that our beginner level students learn are blocking skills. By learning how to block before offense, students come to understand the purpose of their Taekwondo training. It teaches them to respect their work and have self-respect. KTKD kids also learn that working hard and giving the four focuses (focus ears, focus eyes, focus body and focus lips) demonstrate respect for the work that they do and their teachers. How To Learn To Be Respectful Naturally:Having fun by coloring the four basic blocks and practicing the blocks with a parent. Taekwondo instructors demonstrate the four basic blocking techniques in role play. In the role play, instructors explain how Taekwondo students use Taekwondo skills to protect themselves in response to an opponent's attack. Visit our online academy, www.KTKDAcademy.com, to learn from the Taekwondo teachers' role play and how to hold a target for your child. Enjoy being respectful!
Many books about Taekwondo already exist. We didn’t want to write “yet another book” about Taekwondo, with the same approach. Our aim – in addition to sharing knowledge – is to help trainers understand the reality of today’s Taekwondo and the teaching of the sport. We took some time to mull over this project and finally we did it. Enjoy reading and reflecting! Be strong and be good!

Why Are KTKD Kids Focused? KTKD kids learn the four focus exercises which are: focus eyes, focus ears, focus body, and focus lips throughout Taekwondo classes. These exercises help our students to have better self-control at an early age. Focus eyes means KTKD kids listen with their eyes. KTKD students focus their eyes on Taekwondo instructors when they explain Taekwondo techniques. Focus ears means KTKD kids give their full attention. Therefore, our kids know that they should be able to answer the instructor's questions when they have focused ears. Focus body means KTKD kids follow the directions that the Taekwondo instructors give during the class. Focus lips means that KTKD kids know when to answer, when to be quiet, and when to talk during class. How To Learn To Naturally Be Focused:Having fun by coloring the front snap kick and practicing the kick with a parent. Taekwondo kicks require the mind and body to focus to kick properly. Please hold a target for your child to practice kicking. Providing a target helps guide your child's aim. Achieving good aim encourages students to work harder to aim consistently at the target.Visit our online academy, www.KTKDAcademy.com, to learn how a Taekwondo instructor uses the four focus exercises while teaching a front snap kick. Enjoy being focused!
Why Are KTKD Kids Self-Disciplined? KTKD kids learn how to make good choices regardless of how they feel. Training to be self-disciplined is a part of learning Taekwondo forms. Taekwondo forms consist of various Taekwondo pattern movements and they are perfected after years of self-practice. While practicing Taekwondo forms, students get opportunities to consciously make good choices for themselves. For example, students would ask themselves, "Should I bend my knees a little bit more to make better form?" and constantly struggle to decide to either put more effort or to simply give up. Yet, at KTKD, we make sure that students always choose to take the longer road and to put in the hard work. KTKD students learn to immediately opt for what is right, even if they feel uncomfortable. They learn this through self-respect and self-discipline. How To Learn To Be Naturally Self-Disciplined: Having fun by coloring the basic Taekwondo form and following the form. Basic Form consists of a total of 24 movements. Beginner students only learn the first eight movements. As your child follows each movement, don't forget to keep encouraging them to make the good choice of not giving up. Inspire them to put in more effort despite the challenge it may pose. Visit our online academy, www.KTKDAcademy.com, to learn how to perform the basic 1-8 movements with Korean counting. Enjoy being self-disciplined!
