The rosary is the school of Mary. Whoever takes the hand of the Mother will be guided step by step, Hail Mary after Hail Mary, and led directly to her Son Jesus Christ. The rosary teaches us how to pray--not only by reciting the Ave Maria, but by meditating upon the mysteries of our salvation and contemplating the Lord with the eyes of the one human being who loved Him more than any other. The rosary is a school of prayer opening a path that leads us into ever deeper knowledge and love of God. It is a powerful prayer--like a strong army--that changes first ones own life, but then also the whole world around us. The rosary--a little chain that helps us contemplate five mysteries of the life of Jesus--is comparable to the Psalms, for David brought but five little stones against Goliath. With the rosary we overcome the giants who would make us fear the many challenges and sorrows that surround us. An idealistic young medical doctor, Giancarlo Avellino, inspired by a radical colleague, Sigismondo Malatesta decides that the biological hands of time can be scientifically reversed in the elderly, making them young again! Convinced that a combination of pharmaceutical compounds and nutraceutical dietary supplements may be one of the keys to the fountain of youth, he boldly decides to prove it, clinically treating five aging physicians and a sixth surprise volunteer. The results of the treatment at first seem promising, but then a mysterious death occurs, jeopardizing the program. The police and the FDA become involved, paving the way for the U.S. Congress to enter challenging the will of the young doctor to continue his couragous endeavor. Primarily conversational, the bulk of the story is concerned with addressing how people deal with this bold effort, describing their thoughts and their individual reactions to the turning back of their hands of time.
A famous book based on the theme of founding one's whole spiritual life on the lessons we learn from the Passion and Death of Jesus. Includes 31 meditations on different aspects of the Passion. Each meditation has 3 points, followed by a holy resolution to be taken and an example from the life of a Saint. The book also has many extras -- the Five Holy Wounds, visits to a crucifix, Mary Queen of Dolors, How to assist well at Mass, and more!
The present volume is made up of choice selections from the various ascetical writings of the Saint. The order of virtues considered is that followed by the spiritual sons of St. Alphonsus in the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer. For each month of the year is assigned a particular virtue to which they are to devote their especial attention. This is a practice highly recommended by the masters of the spiritual life, and is fraught with the happiest results. It is hoped that the faithful will derive spiritual profit and pleasure from this course in “The School of Christian Perfection.” Aeterna Press
This little book, A Month with Mary, also originated from an act of charity of Father Dolindo. Father Dolindo wrote A Month with Mary on pocket-sized pages joined into small fascicles of 8 to 12 pages. He sent them to Laura de Rosis every two to three days and later transcribed them with some modifications in volume III of his Autobiography: The Story of My Life in the Plan of the Great Mercy of God, pp. 1140 ff (cf. Epistolario 1:212n, 218n).This work is from 1912: one of those years which passed in the life of Father Dolindo with the cadence of a "Way of the Cross" ... But he, serene as ever, loved Christ the more, loved Our Lady the more and reflected this love in these few pages to which he wished to give the significant title: A Profound Reform of Heart in the School of Mary. These meditations are written in the style of the Imitation of Christ.Meditations for just one soul!
